Halloween Art Competition

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Sixth Class in St Brendan’s N.S. organised a Halloween Art Competition. Conor and Daniel from 6th Class made a poster for the Junior Room and distributed the colouring pages and collected all the wonderful entries, which can be seen above. Edee and Matthew made a poster for the Middle Room and allowed entries to be colouring or drawing in this category. Oisín and Adam made a poster for the Senior Room and collected all the drawing entries. Then the sixth class came together to judge all the wonderful work. It was a very difficult task, as the entries were of such a high standard and the children had completed them outside school. Congratulations to all the winners Daniel Rohan (5th Class), Emma Hoyne (4th Class), Alfie Lanigan (3rd Class), Meabh Kenneally (3rd Class), Donie Cahill (2nd Class) and James Aylward (1st Class). A big thanks to sixth class who organised the prizes.

Hurling Final

My team Carrickshock got into the Cumann Na mBunscoileanna Cill Chainnigh Roinn C Under 13 final. Our opponents were Coon Muckalee and our first game in Nolan Park was a draw. In the replay, we were beaten. My three best friends Adam, Oisín and Conor were on the team too. I wish to thank my coaches Múinteoir Naoise and Múinteoir Kieran. Richie Power presented us our medals during the Blitz, and he reminded us to keep playing and keep training.

SFI Discover Science and Maths Award

2019 SFI Award Badge2

Above is the SFI Discover Science and Maths Award badge for 2018/2019. Our school provided evidence of the children’s engagement with STEM in the following areas: 1. Science, 2. Technology,  3. Engineering, 4. Maths and 5. Stem Showcase. All classes in the school from Jnr Infants right up to Sixth Class helped us earn this award with their teachers Miss Butler, Mrs Dunphy, Ms Carroll and Jackie our SNA. We got excellent feedback on our work as you can see

A very good presentation of your year’s work. There is a great variety and range of STEM material with obvious participation by the children. You fully deserve your award. Keep up the good work and congratulations.

The Blitz

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Davy Franks came to St Brendan’s N.S. and did hurling with us for six weeks. We did drills and skills and we had lots of fun. The aim was to keep the hurling tradition strong in our school and to entice more people to join the club. At the end of the six weeks, Davy and members of the Carrickshock club organised a blitz for the three schools, namely Newmarket, Monroe and Stoneyford. Newmarket and Stoneyford travelled together on the bus up to the pitch. We were divided into four girls teams and four boys teams. After our hurling matches, we had tremendous fun. Check us out above playing horse and jockey and rock, paper, scissors.
