Camogie Champions 2016

On Thursday the 13th of October three very important people came to our school. Their names were Aisling O’ Farrell, Lydia Phelan and the one and only Jacqui Frisby. And the reason they came was because they had all beaten Cork in the All-Ireland Camogie Final. Aisling , Lydia and Sabrina Walsh were on the Intermediate team who were from Carrickshock. Sadly Sabrina wasn’t able to come but we still had a good time. Also Edel Frisby wasn’t able to make it. Edel is a past pupil and she played a vital part on the Intermediate team as a solid wing back. And last but not least my hero the one and only Jacqui Frisby. Jacqui is my hero because she has lost so many finals, but every time she  lost, she just picked herself up and dusted herself off. It must have been the best day ever for the Frisby family as Jacqui and Edel Frisby both won a cup. Hopefully someday I might just be up there doing the same thing as them.

Kilkenny……All Ireland Champions ……again

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

We are all so happy here this morning after yesterday’s All Ireland victory. Half of our class were in Croke Park yesterday. We were all sitting near each other in the Davin stand. We are very proud of our team but we do feel a bit sorry for Galway. There hasn’t been a replay in an All Ireland final since 1959 when Waterford beat Kilkenny. The attendance yesterday was over 82,000. The Galway supporters outnumbered our supporters by about 4 to 1. Yesterday Kilkenny won their 34th All Ireland hurling title and Noel Hickey and Henry Shefflin won their ninth medals. The homecoming is on today in Nowlan Park and the team is expected to arrive at 6.30. There will be a huge crowd in Kilkenny to welcome home the team today. Cill Chainnigh abú.

A visit to St.Brendans

Today on the 9th of October three Kilkenny and Carrickshock hurlers came to our school. The three hurlers who came were John Tennyson, Michael Rice and John Dalton. They came at 12 o clock. When they came in everyone gave them a cheer. John Tennyson brought the cup in. We asked them questions and they signed autographs. John Tennyson and John Dalton are ex pupils of this school. John Tennyson and John Dalton remembered playing in the school league and dreaming of once playing in an All Ireland final. John Tennyson gave us free homework on Monday night. We had a great time with them and hope to see them again next year.
